Katie Schaag

Georgia Tech
Postdoctoral Fellow
Atlanta, GA
Katie Schaag is a writer and artist making work for the page, stage, gallery, screen, and social context. Camp, melodrama, and artifice tonally inflect her queer feminist deconstructions of the hysterical feminine archetype. Her work has been published by Ugly Ducking Presse, Yes Femmes, Metatron, Rabbit Catastrophe Press, Requited Journal, Vector Press, Nat. Brut, Oxeye Press, La Vague, Datableed, Guttural, and Word For/Word, staged at Hemsley Theatre, and exhibited at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Woman Made Gallery, Chazen Museum of Art, and elsewhere. She earned her PhD in English Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a specialization in performance studies and a minor in fine art and creative writing, and she currently teaches in the Writing & Communication Program at Georgia Tech. She is at work on a book of conceptual scripts at the interstices of poetry and drama, as well as two erasure poetry projects, “The Infinite Woman” and “SEAL/WOMAN.” More info: katieschaag.com
