Jennifer Maritza McCauley is a teacher, writer, and editor of African-American and Puerto Rican descent. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, Kimbilio, CantoMundo and the Knight Foundation, and awards from Best of the Net, Independent Publisher Book Awards, the Academy of American Poets and a Pushcart Prize Special Mention. She is currently staff at The Missouri Review and Pleiades, and has held editorial positions at Origins Journal, Sliver of Stone, and The Florida Book Review. She teaches, researches, and writes at the University of Missouri, where she is completing her Ph.D. in creative writing as a Gus T. Ridgel Fellow.
